Morning Motivation

I always joke about how dorky my white board is, but in reality it helps me stay focused and wake up early in the morning. This board is on the wall across from my bed; prime location. It’s the first thing I see when I open my eyes. At night, I either write down quotes, my weekly, monthly or daily goals and go to bed knowing I have a fresh agenda to tackle in the morning.

These visual, organized reminders help me work toward my goals one day at a time. When I have a day off I feel lost about how to organize my time, so setting up a plan beforehand is always helpful!

Strong is the New Skinny

“Strong is the New Skinny.” Love this saying! Instead of focusing on attaining a specific body shape, focus on building strength. Let’s change “I wish I was thin” to “I will be strong.” Shifting that perspective will allow you to accept your body while feeling empowered during your fitness journey.

Spin Class & Getting Rid of Cardio Face

Intrinsic motivation is a limited resource and depletes throughout the day. Therefore, it’s at it’s highest first thing in the morning. That’s why I sleepily dragged my body to 6AM spin class.

As exhausted as you feel walking out your front door, once you’re surrounded by that positive energy you have no choice but to wake up and have fun!

Only problem? My face gets insanely red, almost purple, after a hard cardio workout and stays that way for an hour or two.

However, I found an awesome solution that may help you out. Place an ice pack on your neck as you get ready for errands or work. This should solve the problem in no time!

Kripalu Yoga Acceptance

I did it!

After six years of practicing I finally mustered up the courage to follow something that I was passionate about. I posted my main hesitations in a previous post.

I’m feeling a mixture of emotions: excitement, nervousness, joy, reluctance … But the most overwhelming feeling is that of pride.

I am proud of myself. I am proud that I finally took this leap of faith to pursue something that I am so immensely passionate about. Yoga instruction to me seemed unattainable because I didn’t have graceful gymnastic abilities nor did I have the slender body type of yogis depicted in sportswear ads.

This step symbolizes how much I have grown, changed and accepted myself.

Fall Goal: Back to my former self

My abs circa 2012. Comparing myself to other fitspo images creates unrealistic, unattainable goals. So what better way to get back at it than to look at a place I know I have been before, and know that I can get to again?

As you can read in my last post, I hope to be a yoga instructor one day. This image exemplifies the core strength and abdomen definition I had when I diligently practiced.
